Though not the highest in the Himalayas, at 14,000 feet the air gets thin at Kum Sum La pass. Beyond lies the valley of Spiti and the gateway to Tibet. Prayer flags send blessings out on to the wind, hence the Tibetan name for them: “Lungta” – wind-horse. |
